How to Make Agua de Melon (con leche)

Agua de Melon (con leche)

If you’ve never had agua de melon (con leche) then this is your sign to make it and finally try this delicious beverage! Honeydew is one of my top 3 flavors I always go for when I’m ordering agua fresas or boba tea. It’s refreshing and the flavor is spot on.

Agua frescas are perfect to make during the summer to help cool off, especially in this Texas heat! But I’d be lying if I told you I only make this during the summer. It’s honestly perfect anytime you want a refreshing fruit beverage.

If you ever go into a Mexican market and they sell agua frescas I highly suggest getting one! And if you can’t find agua frescas then look no further. This recipe is super easy and you just need a blender!

What is Agua de Melon (con leche)

Agua de Melon or “melon water” is one of the many delicious aguas frescas served throughout Mexico. But this one has milk in it – “con leche”. It’s a simple blend of ripe honeydew, or the melon of your choice, water, milk and sugar served chilled. In this case, I used condensed milk to sweeten it and didn’t need to add any more sugar.

How to Make Agua de Melon (con leche)

  • 1 Honeydew (or Cantaloupe)
  • 1 can Condensed Milk
  • 1 can Evaporated Milk
  • 5-7 cups Water
  • Sugar, if you want it sweeter
  1. In a blender, add the honeydew, condensed milk, evaporated milk and 1 cup of water. Blend until smooth.
  2. Add to a pitcher and add in the rest of the water. Depending on how thick your honeydew mixture is you can add more or less water.
  3. Serve over ice and add some honeydew pieces on top for garnish. Enjoy!

# Tips

Depending how sweet you want it you can add sugar but my honeydew was ripe and I didn’t need any.

If you aren’t a fan of honeydew you can use cantaloupe instead! It’s just as good as honeydew.

Keep refrigerated until ready to serve. It will last a few days in the fridge.

Optionally, you can add a few drops of green food coloring if you want it to be more green. It usually comes out pale green.

Try your best to not get any rind. I once tried to get as much honeydew as I could and I ended up adding some rind and the result was good but it had a weird aftertaste that I did not like. But I remade it and avoided the rind and it came out great!
