How to Make Salsa Verde Wings

Salsa Verde Wings

These salsa verde wings are perfect for game day or anytime you are hosting. They are spicy and have such great flavor from the salsa verde. I can’t tell you how many times people ask me for this recipe when they try them for the first time.

What’s great about this recipe is that it is quick, easy and of course delicious! You can bake or air fry the wings. When I’m short on time I get ready to bake wings. All you have to do is heat them up and toss them in the salsa verde and it’s good to go.

Make these next time you’re craving wings or having guests over for game night or to watch the football game!

What are Salsa Verde Wings?

They are wings that are tossed in a spicy green salsa made from tomatillos, serranos, jalapenos, onion, garlic and cilantro. They’re packed with flavor and have a great kick!

I love making these when we have guests over for a game night or during football games! Using ready to heat wings makes this recipe easy and fast so you can make these in a cinch.

How to Make Salsa Verde Wings

Ingredients

  • Ready to heat Wings, I like to use Foster Farms Crispy Take out Wings (24wings)
  • 1 lb tomatillos, husk removed and washed
  • 3 Serranos
  • 1 Jalapeno
  • ½ onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 bunch of cilantro
  • 1 tsp of chicken bullion
  • Salt, to taste

Directions

  1. Bake or air fry your wings according to the package. (Air fry for extra crispness!)
  2.  Rinse your tomatillos, serranos and jalapeno and place them in a small pot with enough water to cover them. Let them cook on medium-high heat. Keep your eye on them once they start to boil. They’ll be ready when they go from a bright green color to an off green-yellowish color. About 8-10mins. Remove from heat.
  3. To a blender add onion, garlic, cilantro, chicken bullion, salt, ¼ cup of water, cooked tomatillos, jalapeno and serranos and blend for about a minute or until smooth. Taste and add salt if needed.
  4. In a large bowl add your cooked wings and add as much of the salsa verde as you want. Give it a good toss and it’s ready to serve!

# Tips

I love using ready to heat wings so you don’t have to waste time cleaning, trimming and seasoning your wings.

Using an air fryer makes the wings nice and crispy! I usually always use my air fryer for wings because of that.

If you want the salsa verde to be more spicy just add more serranos or even add some chile de arbol. You can also add less serranos if you want it more on the mild side.

Did you make this recipe?! I would love to hear from you! Leave a comment and let me know how it turned out for you. <3
